Equipment & Gear

BUILD ONLY WHAT YOU NEED

Equipment & Gear

Start with a phone or webcam. Grow to Mevo, podcast studios, PTZ cameras, switchers, and hardware encoders.

Important: A product can look perfect on paper and still need testing. NovaNet separates Research Examples from Tested and Certified gear.

Level 1 — Phone Streamer

  • Modern iPhone or Android phone
  • Tripod or phone clamp
  • External microphone when possible
  • USB-C power or a large power bank
  • 5G or Wi-Fi with enough upload
  • Headphones for checking sound

Good first stream: 720p30 on an unknown mobile connection.

Level 2 — Webcam Creator

Research Example

Creator webcam

A good USB webcam is the easiest way to get a clean picture into a laptop or desktop.

Research Example

USB / XLR dynamic microphone

A close dynamic microphone can help reduce room noise. USB/XLR models are easy to start with and can grow into a mixer later.

Add a soft light, headphones, Ethernet, and a clean background before buying a second camera.

Level 3 — Mevo

Research Example

Mevo Start

A small wireless live camera can fit simple events, churches, mobile shows, and one-person productions.

Research Example

Mevo Core

A lens-based Mevo setup can add more image control and professional connections.

Level 4 — Podcast / Creator Studio

A common setup is 2 to 4 cameras + close microphones + a switcher or mixer + local recording + wired internet.

Research Example

Mirrorless camera

Gives more lens and picture control than a webcam, but also needs more power and setup.

Research Example

Video podcast switcher

Can switch camera views, mix microphones, show graphics, record, and sometimes stream without a normal computer.

Level 5 — Event / Professional Gear

Research Example

PTZ camera

Useful in churches, schools, auditoriums, studios, and event spaces. It can be controlled from a distance.

Research Example

Hardware encoder

A professional encoder can accept HDMI or SDI and send RTMPS or SRT without depending on a normal laptop.
