Plan venue internet, mobile backup, bonding, show-day tests, and safe NovaNet profiles before the crowd arrives.
Guest Wi-Fi is not a production plan. It may work. It may also fail when the room fills up.
Best Event Internet Plan
- Path A: Ask the venue for dedicated wired Ethernet.
- Path B: Bring a different internet connection you control.
- Test both paths.
- Record locally.
Ask Venue IT These Questions
- Can production have a wired Ethernet drop?
- What is the upload speed?
- Is the line shared with guests or other events?
- Can production have its own VLAN or network?
- Is there a captive portal or sign-in page?
- Do you block RTMPS, SRT, UDP, or long-running connections?
- Can we test while the venue is busy?
- Can you provide a second internet path?
- Who is our live support contact during the show?
- Is the network equipment on backup power?
Why Crowds Hurt Cellular
A cell tower has to serve many phones. A speed test in an empty ballroom can look great. The same tower may be much slower when thousands of people arrive.
NovaNet event rule: If the show is paid, contractual, or cannot stop, a single consumer hotspot should be treated as a risk.
Event Profile Starting Ideas
